Educational Discovery Tours is an advocate for enhancing outside of classroom STEM educational opportunities for teachers and their students. Programs are built around age and subject appropriate curriculum and can be customized to meet the needs of elementary, middle and high school educators.
Innovation and Inspiration
In Silicon Valley and the Bay Area of California, innovation and inspiration are the cornerstones of Educational Discovery Tours STEM itineraries. Destination options include Santa Clara, San Jose and San Francisco. Historical attractions such as the Intel Museum, the Tech Museum, the garage where Hewlett Packard founded HP and the Computer History Museum, form the foundation of most itineraries.
Educational institution tours that are featured include Stanford, Santa Clara University, San Jose State, Cal Berkeley and CSUEB.
Because Silicon Valley companies are viable businesses that value their privacy and security, we are not able to tour any of the iconic tech companies at this time. But it truly can be just as exciting and motivational to drive by and see the exteriors of these companies. Some even allow photos in front of their buildings such as Facebook (the iconic like thumb sign), Twitter, TESLA, Adobe and LinkedIn. Others like Google and the new Apple headquarters (once open) also allow students to visit their company stores on campus.
Science Highlights and Scenic Activities
Science highlights in the Bay Area that may be featured in your customized program include the NASA Ames Research Center, the California Academy of Science, the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, Marine Mammal Center and the Exploratorium Hands-on Science Center.
A student travel experience wouldn’t be the same without some fun built in as well. The options are endless but our students’ favorites are Great America, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Six Flags Vallejo, Golden Gate Park, a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, s tour through the Winchester Mystery House and the San Francisco Zoo.
Other STEM Adventures
STEM adventures outside of the San Francisco bay area include the Glacier National Park Institute, the Monterey Bay Area, Catalina Island, Moab, Bryce Canyon National Park, Yellowstone National Park and various destinations domestically and internationally that host robotics competitions.
