  1. Your schoolโ€™s band can participate in the Norfolk NATO Festivalโ€™s Annual Parade of Nations, the longest continuous parade in Hampton Roads and the only Parade in the United States honoring NATO! Over 100 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands, US and International Military bands, and colorful floats which represent each of the 28 NATO Member Nations!
  2. Attend the performance of The Virginia International Tattoo renowned as the most patriotic of the world’s great tattoos. This largest spectacle of Music and Might in the United States of America offers an astounding display of inspirational military music, majestic massed pipes and drums, show stopping drill team maneuvers, colorful and elegant dancers, and much more.
  3. Perform in a โ€œMusic In The Parksโ€ adjudicated event at Busch Gardens In Williamsburg. https://youtu.be/kmFMaq0qnvc. Music in the Parks is a day-long or two-day festival for student choral, orchestral, and band ensembles. Music groups perform before adjudicators who rate the ensemble in the morning, and then spend the rest of the day at Busch Gardens. The day culminates with an awards ceremony.
  4. Norfolk is proud to be the home of the worldโ€™s largest Naval Station. Naval personnel conduct 45 minute tours year round. Students will see aircraft carriers, destroyers, amphibious assault ships and learn about the history of the Naval Station Norfolk.
  5. Kayaking, sailing, fishing, crabbing, swimming and harbor cruising are all activities in, on and around the water here in Virginia Beach. Any or all of the above can be scheduled for your students.
  6. Travel to Assateague Island to explore the beaches and if youโ€™re lucky see wild horses running free. Assateague Island National Seashore contains over 37 miles of pristine beach. More than 300 wild ponies wander the beaches, inland pine forest, and salt marshes.

  7. Explore the Cape Henry Lighthouse built in 1792. It is the first federally funded lighthouse and was built to guide maritime commerce at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. It is located near the โ€œFirst Landingโ€ site where English settlers arrived in 1607. The lighthouse was authorized by George Washington and overseen by Alexander Hamilton. It is one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States.
  8. Visit the Military Aviation Museum, located at the Virginia Beach Airport, is home to one of the largest private collections of World War II and Korean War era fighters, bombers, trainers and seaplanes. Many aircrafts have been fully restored to their World War II condition.
  9. Feast on the beach, โ€œCatch and Cookโ€. You wanted the freshest; well youโ€™ve got the freshest. Seafood that is. Enjoy a day of world-class fishing on one of our many charter trips, then bring your catch to one of our โ€œCatch and Cookโ€ participating restaurants and theyโ€™ll cook it up any way you like it.
  10. Live history live and enjoy a lunch fit for a shipโ€™s captain when your group cruises on the American Rover sailing ship. The American Rover offers educational cruises departing from Norfolkโ€™s Waterside. Hands-on activities enable students to become active participants in the learning adventure.
