4th Grade California Educational Tours
Provide your 4th grade students with highly interactive and fun living history programs designed to support your classroom curriculum. The exclusive 4th grade California history tours offer a living history camp set on the banks of the American River in Coloma, the heart of the Gold Country. Upon your group’s arrival at camp, you’ll be greeted by our enthusiastic and talented tour guides, who will introduce your students to true characters of the fabled Gold Country. Daytime activities include panning for gold, tinsmithing, making pioneer toys, and listening to true survival tales from our authentic “Mountain Man.”
For those classrooms seeking an even more immersive experience, students can extend their adventure by spending the night in our authentic encampment. They’ll sleep in the same type of tents that the pioneers used, deepening their connection to history. As night falls, students will gather around the campfire for an evening of entertainment, featuring musical performances by our Gold Rush musician, who brings the past to life with spoons, harmonica, and a variety of instruments used by miners and pioneers. The night will culminate in captivating campfire stories, where students will hear the oral history of the California Maidu tribe, providing them with a rich and unforgettable cultural experience. This overnight stay not only enhances their understanding of California history but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and adventure among the students
